Composite bonding

Why would I need composite bonding?

What makes composite bonding such a requested treatment for many patients is its effectiveness for resolving a variety of cosmetic dental issues. There are alternatives out there, such as veneers and crowns, but composite bonding can benefit patients because it is a much simpler and much more cost-effective solution to those other treatments.

A patient may want to look more into composite bonding if they are struggling with chipped teeth, fractures, or other cosmetic improvement to the teeth. It is likely, if the damage is minor and easily fixed, that your dentist will recommend this treatment over more expensive treatments.

Composite bonding is the use of composite material that is then bonded to reshape, rebuild, or fill damaged teeth. It is a very simple cosmetic procedure, but it also has a huge amount of potential for different kinds of repairs. What is the treatment process?

The treatment itself is very simple, and it can normally be done in just one simple appointment with your dentist. It requires your dentist to first match the colour of the composite resin with the rest of your teeth. This will ensure that the smile will be consistent and look as natural as possible. The resin will then be placed onto the area required and moulded into the correct shape. The finishing touches will consist of curing the composite resin and refining the tooth further.

Dental veneers

Dental veneers are ultra-thin shells made of either porcelain or composite resin that are used to improve the appearance of your smile. These shells are bonded to the front or top surface of the affected teeth to deal with damage or minor smile imperfections including stubborn stains or discolouration, cracks, chips, and unsightly spaces between teeth.

Porcelain veneers are generally considered to be much stronger compared to veneers made with composite resin. This is the distinct advantage that makes porcelain veneers treatment a popular choice even with their higher price compared to composite veneers. The porcelain material has a translucent attribute that bears the closest resemblance to the quality of real teeth and is resistant to chipping and staining.

Composite Veneers are made with composite resin have a lower price compared to porcelain veneers. Composite veneers also involve a quicker process that allows them to be fabricated within the same time as your dental visit so you can immediately enjoy the benefits of the treatment. However, composite resin veneers have a shorter lifespan and are more prone to staining than porcelain veneers.

Zoom ! In-Practice teeth whitening

Are you looking for a brighter smile?

Your smile is one of the first thing people notice, being able to smile confidently and without embarrassment positively impacts on all our lives. The colour of our teeth can be affected by staining substances such as cigarettes, coffee, tea and red wine.

At Ikigai Smiles & Aesthetics Studio we offer a range of teeth whitening treatments, that will leave you with a brighter and whiter smile that you can be proud of. Tooth whitening can be a very effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. It cannot make a complete colour change, but it may lighten the existing shade.

There are a number of reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more dis-coloured as we get older.

Zoom! in-Practice tooth whitening "Laser" or "power whitening" is a whitening procedure which is carried out directly in the dental chair. During this procedure a rubber dam is put over your teeth to protect the gums, and a bleaching product is painted onto your teeth. Then a light or laser is shone on the teeth to activate the chemical. The light speeds up the reaction of the whitening product and the colour change can be achieved more quickly. Laser whitening is said to make teeth up to five or six shades lighter.

White fillings

White fillings are used to restore the function and appearance of decayed or damaged teeth. They are more aesthetically pleasing compared to the amalgam or metal fillings that were once commonly used, which look quite noticeable against the rest of the teeth.

Dental implants

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium that are attached to teeth restorations (dental crowns, fixed dentures, or bridges). The implants work to restore your smile after tooth loss so you can once more smile confidently and enjoy your food comfortably with a permanent missing teeth solution.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is sometimes known as a ‘cap’ and is an artificial tooth that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it a natural tooth shape. Dental crowns address aesthetic needs, restore tooth function and enhance the overall health of your mouth.

Dental crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been damaged or weakened by decay or a very large filling. They can be made of porcelain or gold or a combination of these materials.

A dental crown could be used for a number of other reasons; you may have dis-coloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth, you may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect it or a crown may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.

Dentures

What are dentures? A denture is a removable prosthesis used to replace missing teeth.

Commonly referred to as ‘false teeth’, a denture is usually made of acrylic or a combination of acrylic and metal. A partial denture is fitted to replace some missing teeth whilst a complete denture is indicated when all natural teeth are missing. A good set of dentures help you to eat, speak, function, and often improves a person’s appearance.

They are made customised to the patients mouth and involve several stages to ensure an accurate fit. After the initial visit of examination and diagnosis, the subsequent visits will include taking impressions of the mouth, bite registration, try-in of the denture, fitting and review.

What to expect. New dentures always feel strange when first placed in your mouth. Several days or weeks will be required before you get accustomed to them. Adaptation varies with different persons and often time and experience are essential before dentures can be worn comfortably and function effectively.
